Pratik,
I suppose it is our choice to be an IT worker or grow into a software developer. However, whether it is the IT field or any other profession, only those people who strive to grow and improve over themselves can achieve success. So an IT worker will remain mediocre because he/she does what is expected and nothing more while a software developer will naturally achieve success because he/she always looks to improve.

I Accept !. I am an IT worker.
But there are lots of factors which forces you to remain an IT worker.
Those factors ties you whenever you strive to become a good software developer.
Its sort of eternal journey as an IT Worker with lots of social and moral responsibilities which is necessary to put the life on the roll and thus we are a social animal.

True Shiva, most engineers in the IT industry work for the money. The dedication is missing.

I agree one cannot be a software developer if he does not have enough motivation and dedication. The only thing he will remain is an IT Worker

I have been an IT worker as well. Trying to grow into a developer. A good developer has worked in the trenches and knows a lot about the application side as well. Reading and writing lots and lots of code is what will make us better developers.
